Our charity work

Annually around the 11th of November the Club sells poppies to support the vital work of The Royal British Legion,

The Royal British Legion provides financial, social and emotional care and support to all members of the British Armed Forces - past and present and their families. The Legion is also the national Custodian of Remembrance and is best known for the annual Poppy Appeal and its emblem the red poppy.

Founded in 1921, the Legion is not just about those who fought in the two World Wars of the last century, but also about those involved in the many conflicts since 1945 and those still fighting for the freedom we enjoy today.

Furthermore, every year we select one or two charities, usually nominated by our members, to receive a donation from our club.  These could be topical like “Together In Action for Ukraine”, which was our charity in 2022, or well-established charities.

Together with the donation we may run charity drives where appropriate and we sometimes also invite a speaker from the charity to give a presentation about their work and aims.”

Our charities in 2023 were  "Arosa Rotterdam" and "Dierenambulance Rotterdam". Members have also donated personal care products and materials for children to Arosa and cat food to a lady who cares for stray cats.
